On a lighter note....

Do you ever just laugh out loud at random stuff? Well recently just walking across campus I see stuff/people and it just makes me laugh. So I will share some of the things that made me laugh. They probably won't be funny but they were to me at the moment.
I saw a guy on campus with an airbrushed t-shirt on that said Chris & Anna...I laughed out loud he was definitely whipped.
This guy was riding his bike like super speedy fast down the road....I wanted to yell GET IT BOY>>>GET IT!
Last week I was walking to my 8:00 and I passed a couple....The guy was literally pulling his girlfriend along she had a beautiful look of anguish on her bed head face. It was funny!
I get really cracked up when I see couples walking around campus holding hands....Why? I have no clue. But every time I see it...I just laugh!
So there is this hill between the dorms.....you can take the stairs or you can go up/down the dirt path beside the stairs. Well most ppl take the dirt path...it never fails people fall down it all the time! I must say way FUNNY...
So now I'll tell you something funny about me. Earlier...some of our neighbors came and knocked on our door and tried to scare us. So I head back to my room and grab my tire thumber...It looks like a small bat but it will tear somebody up literally. That may not sound funny but it was funny b/c first of all I have a tire thumber...whose has one of those? and secondly, like I could really hurt someone!
So I say all of this why? because I know you probably don't think any of it's funny but I guess it's one of those just have to be there moments. My point is we should all take time to LAUGH!

Today was yet another exciting day. This morning I almost got attacked by a weenie dog. For REAL!! Then this afternoon Jenn, the Women's director at Lakeview, came over and we went and visited some girls in Stonegate. After that I read my life away for the rest of the afternoon. Monica got home from Haley and we went to Kinnucan's and to Sonic. Well we've been trying to walk every night. Due to the weather we haven't got to much this weekend. So tonight we attempted to....and yes it started raining...The story of my life!!!!

A very long post! Monday August 25th

This has been a eventful day to say the least. This morning I got up and went to class as usual. When I left I recognized the weather was overcast but I didn't think much of it raining( I know what was I thinking right?). So I get to school and go through my 8:00 class and then my 9:00 rolls around and about half way through it the tornado sirens go off. So the teacher makes all of us go out in the hallway. So we sit there till the warning expires. So once we are free to go it's like coming a monsoon outside and like I said I had nothing but my backpack and myself..no umbrella, no rain jacket, NOTHING. So I decided to just wait it out a little bit before heading across campus for my 11:00 class. Finally it slacked off and I tredded the water over to Haley Center. I was early for my class so I was just going to go up and sit outside the door and finish my reading for the class. Well as I'm walking to the classroom on the third floor this lady starts yelling at us. She says that we should all be down on the bottom floor that no one has released us. So we were all like honestly! So we start down the stairs and of course the other 20,000 students on Auburn campus were there as well. So we got stopped at the stairs. I found a place and just sat down. Times rolls around and we are free to go. So I head back upstairs for my class. I sit down and wait. Then a girl comes by and says that Auburn posted on the website that classes are canceled for the rest of the day. So I'm like YES I'll go home. So I'm walking out to the transit and of course everyone else is as well. I waited and hour for a transit in the rain. It was mad chaos!

This Fall I will be taking a class at Lakeview called Perspectives: On the World Christian Movement. Tonight was our first class and we will meet every Monday night from 6:30-9:00 until Christmas. Perspectives is a biblical, historical and cultural analysis of the impact of the world Christian movement, with specific attention given to strategy and the imperative of bringing the gospel to groups that have yet to initially receive it. Each week we have a different speaker come and teach. Tonight we had Gerald Robison-Vice President of UnveilinGlory Ministries from Jacksonville Florida. He taught tonight on the Cat& Dog Theology http://catndogtheology.com/. Crazy right....yeah that's what I thought at first but then when he got finished it was WOW! I left tonight with just a totally different perspective of how to read the Bible. I want my life to be like the dog theology everything I do for the glory of God, everything I read for the glory of God, every action I take for the glory of God. I don't want my life and church experience to be about what can I get from the Bible or what can God give me. It's not about me...It's about me glorifying Him. All of Life is for God and making Him famous to others!

What better post to put sweet pictures of Mattie and Katie Marie on here! Sorry I had to limit it to one since the post was so long :)

Sunday at Lakeview!

After being up all night with tornado sirens going off I'll have to say it was hard getting up this morning for church. I made it and it was well worth it. Brother Al has been doing a series on God's Design for the Families. So this morning his title was " Equally yoked: God's design for choosing a mate". He preached from several different scriptures. I liked what he said " You need to focus on being the right person instead of finding the right one". Tonight he preached from Proverbs 5: 1-23 and the title was " Red-Hot Monogamy: God's Design for Sex". He used one sentence to sum up this message: "God's design for sex is that a husband be captivated by the love of his wife and a wife be captivated by the love of her husband."

After church we had a information/orientation meeting for " The GAP" prayer ministry. The GAP prayer ministry is Lakeviews 24-hour prayer room. Each person/persons takes a hour a week and goes to the GAP prayer room at Lakeview and takes part in intercessory prayer. Ashley and I are going to do it this Fall. We have decided to do it on Monday mornings at 6:00. After the meeting College went over to Cliff and Toma's house for pizza and fellowship.
Thank you Lord for keeping us safe through all the bad weather!

Tropical Storm FAY

It has been a YUCKIE day here in Auburn. So as I posted last night I was very excited about getting to sleep late this morning. Well that didn't happen...I couldn't sleep in :( Ever since I got up this morning it has been raining like cats and dogs. The wind has blown non-stop. TERRIBLE WEATHER to say the least. I was a wild woman today...I cleaned like crazy. Nothing better to do so why not clean right? Ha!

Tonight I was very excited because Steven was coming up for dinner. Well when he was almost here the sirens started going off. Tornado sirens that is. I got online to see what was going on and I'm looking at a map like the one above. I tried reading it, but honestly I had no clue at what I was looking at. I'm no weatherMAN..haha! Long story short. Monica goes to the Vet school to take cover and Steven and I head to Olive Garden. A great ending to a yuck day!

Tonight Moncia and I went with Chad and B our neighbors out to dinner and bowling. We bowled three games. The first one I won with 105 and the other two I bowled an 85 and Chad won. It was a fun night! Yay..for sleeping late in the morning!!!!!!!

Okay so I don't usually blog this early in the day but I just have to. I need to vent. On Tuesday and Thursday I have a Introduction to Women's Studies class. I'm taking this class because it was one of the choices of electives. I thought it would be interesting. Tuesday we were given the assignment to bring in something from the media ( video clip, song lyrics, newspaper clipping, picture) that we thought was portraying Feminism. So I was not totally sure what feminism was, I had ideas but I wasn't totally sure of the definition. So last night I was thinking about something I could get to show. I picked up my Women's Health magazine and on the front it said STRONG and INCHARGE and had a picture of a tone women in like workout clothes. I took this to class and I was like I will just listen to what other people will say and then I will kind of decide what I want to say. So I get in class and she was like we are going to start from the bottom of the roll. Of course I was not prepared for this because usually I'm always last not first. So I'm like great, I have no idea what I'm going to say about this and I have to get up in front of all these people and try to convince them I do know what I'm talking about. Well I got up there and just really rambled off different stuff which then opened the floor for everyone else to chime in. Getting up there wasn't bad I just wish I wouldn't have went first.

So I say all of this because I kind of got upset in the class. Given this class is a class where we are all free and encouraged to speak what we think. The teacher really encourages that we voice our opinions and be open to what other people say. I think that's a great way to learn is by listening to other peoples opinions and what they think. So of course different people got up and gave there little proposition about why there media object was supporting feminism. Well the idea of a working woman kept getting thrown around. Alot of the people were saying pretty much that " to be a woman of value or of independence you have to be a businesswoman and want to be climbing the corporate ladder". I totally disagree! I think the value of a woman is not determined by whether or not a woman has a great paying job and is out in the work force. They were much implying, not all but alot of the class, that you can't be your own person or respected as much if you were a stay at home mom. They were saying that women should have equal this and equal that. What ever happen to the roles of women and men? It's like it was almost a bad thing to want to be a stay at home mom.

I think being a stay at home wife and mother is one of the greatest jobs in the world. The black cloud that covers these women that are stay at home moms is just disappointing. I'm not saying that every person should and has to be a stay at home wife or mother. Some women can't and some just don't want to. But for the ones that feel that it's important to stay at home and rear their children that should not be a bad thing or a dark light should not be cast upon them. It's a job just like the business woman's job. My point to all of this is that you can be a stay at home mom and have value. One of my hero's, my mom was/ is both. She was a wonderful stay at home mom and now she is a successful business woman. She is a woman of value not just for being both but she was one when she only stayed home and took care of my father and us kids.
I like what Paul writes in Titus. Titus 2: 4-5 " Then they can teach the young women to love their husbands, to love their children, to be wise and pure, to be good workers at home, to be kind, and to yield to their husbands. Then no one will be able to criticize the teaching God gave us."

Word of the day....BOOYAH!

Let see where do I start?? I guess I can tell you about my day. It started out bright and early at 6:30. Classes were good! This afternoon I called Richard and we just chatted for a little while. I am so thankful for the relationship that we have formed this summer. He is just a man hungry for young people and seeing them grow in their walk. He has been such an encouragement this summer to me. There is nothing more sweeter than forgiveness between believers. I serve an amazing God!

Tonight was my first night back to CBS. It was great there were tons of people. Curtis taught from Ephesians 1: 1-14. He does an amazing job of stretching our minds to think more into the text. One of the worship songs we sang was We've Come to Declare by Shane and Shane. I posted some of it below. Great lyrics to just think and mediate on!

Your heart was torn, forgiveness was born
Yet through Your pain, You call us by name
So that we would be free, yes free indeed
Free to run with You to be all that You created us to be
In You it is true that we are free (oh Lord we are free)
Oh we've come to declare the beauty of the Lord
Declare the beauty of the Lord
Oh we've come to declare the beauty of the Lord
Declare the beauty of the Lord
Alleluia we sing
Alleluia we sing, yes we praise You O Lord

Today has been good. My three classes went smoothly and I didn't get lost in Haley! Although I did have to buy a NEW book which was not fun at all for the bank account! Which I should be thankful that's the only new book I had to buy. I was able to find the rest online for very reasonable prices.
Well my day hasn't been very exciting. The bed man is on his way to deliver Monica's bed. I know she is way excited..so she don't have to sleep on the air mattress anymore. Almost time for supper as well.

First day of classes!

So 6:30 came very early this morning. The morning started out good. Monica and I caught the tiger transit and since it was the first day of classes everyone else had the same idea of riding it. Since everyone else was riding it and we were the last stop to campus we had to stand up. I honestly thought if the transit driver slammed on his breaks one more time we were all about to go flying forward. So we got to campus and I hiked over to Spidle Hall for my first two classes. After that I had an hour break so I went over to Einstein Brothers and had a strawberry muffin( it was delicious!). Then I headed to Haley for my last class and yes I got lost. I could not find the room so I was walking around with this look of confusion on my face. Then I found it and afterwards I could not find how to get out. Haley Center is a very confusing building!

When I got home Monica and I filled each other in on how our classes went. Then we went for a Walmart run. The rest of the afternoon we just took it easy. Tonight we cooked our first meal together as roommates. We had beef tips, carrots, potatos, and sister shubert rolls. It was Grand! So while dinner was cooking we organized the kitchen and it is finally in order!

Tomorrow I have three more classes: 8:00 Global Consumer Culture, 9:30 Public Speaking, and then 11:00 Introduction to Women's Studies. I hope tomorrow goes as well as today did except for getting lost in Haley. Well better get to bed!

~ Oh and Monica and I are boycotting Zaxbys! We had bad chicken last night & so we have been kind of sickly last night and today :(

Not much went on today around Stonegate. I tackled my biggest project which was my closet. It took me half of the day just to do that. Then I worked on putting everything else away. I did not finish, my kitchen still needs to be straighten and my bathroom needs some work. The big part is over though. Monica got here tonight and boy was I glad to see her. I haven't seen her since May so it was good to finally see her and catch up. I'm so excited about her living here! We went down to Chad's after she got here and saw his new puppy Max he is so cute and playful. That's about it so I posted some pictures of the mess, before and after of my closet and a picture of Oliva & Eliza that Aunt Pat sent me from her trip down to visit them.

HDFS

My major is officially changed! I am now in the college of Human Sciences. My major is Human Development and Family Studies with a focus on adults. I was kind of scared today when I was changing my major but I just kept thinking back about direction determining my destination not my intentions. I feel this is the direction I'm suppose to be going in! As many of you know changing my major has been a huge battle this summer for me and my parents. I'm so happy now that I know I'm where I'm suppose to be and my parents are "ok" with it. After many prayers, tears, and confrontations all I can say is FINALLY! It feels good to not have to fret or worry anymore about this. Peace Ahhhh....

My teeth HURT!!!!!!!

Today was quite an eventful/rushed day.
I first had an orthodontist appointment this morning ( hence the reason my teeth are hurting really bad). I did get good news though. The nurse said that Dr. Reynolds wrote down that they " might " do impressions next time I come for retainers. I was happy for a split second and then I responded with I'm not going to get my hopes up. I'm not because I was told I would only have to wear them a year and it's been two and a half. Which why should I get them off ...I've had braces three fourths of my life. I wouldn't t be the same person without them. haha!
So after my ortho appt mom had me running errands and picking up lunch for them. During this time I almost ran out of gas and thought I tore my rear wheel cover off ( the part of the car above the wheel-not sure what its called) because I went off a colvard ditch like thing { I was scared }! I was rushing this whole time because at the time I thought I had to be in Auburn at 3 instead of 3:30 and I hadn't even packed my car or finished packing my stuff. So I got home scarfed down lunch...ran to the house, mom and I threw everything in and I was off at 12: 20. I had to stop for gas and ran into a guy I graduated with ( Willie Jo) haven't seen him in forever. Finally I was on the interstate south bound and breaking every speed limit between Rainsville & Auburn ( sorry mom). Once I got to Auburn I parked illegally so I didn't have to hike all the way across campus. I met with the advisor in the college of Human Sciences. It was a successful meeting she gave me the degree outline. Came home and unloaded my packed down car in the heat...it was very hot I was sweating! Thank you Jesus for air conditioning. Oh yeah and Thank you for not letting me get a parking or speeding ticket! So then after I unloaded everything I went through my mail, added/dropped classes and attempted to look for a job. It was nice to sit down for a little while because it seems like all day has been nonstop rush rush. The time has come where relaxing is over because there are huge piles of stuff staring at me...I guess it needs to be unpacked and put away!

Tonight I was ask to speak to the youth at my parents church. Richard ask me back at the beginning of summer to come tonight and speak about what the Lords doing and has been doing in my life. He ask me to just give my testimony and speak from the heart. This was my first time to share my testimony and heart with a group of people. I talked to them about taking their relationship with Christ to the next level. I also stressed the importance of having a daily quite time. I left them with a challenge to just be transparent and real. To seek Christ with their all!

I shared with them these verses that I continuously pray-
" Search me O God, and know my heart; try my, and know my thoughts: and see if there be any wicked way in me and lead me in the way everlasting." Psalm 139:23-24

" Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me." Psalm 51:10

My prayer is that my heart is continuously being searched and renewed. I strive to become a better disciple daily. I'm so blessed to be called a daughter of the King!

Happy Birthday Janna!

Today I went and had lunch one last time with Janna before we both go back to school. We went to Don Ponchos...it was great! Janna leaves tomorrow for Bama. This will be her first semester down there and I'm so excited for her (even though she's going to the wrong school ). She caught me up on her move-in this past weekend and about her class catastrophes. It was good to catch up with her today and spend some time with her on her birthday. So Happy 20th Birthday Janna and Good Luck this Fall at Alabama!!!!

Blake is officially a senior :(

Today school started back in Dekalb County. My "little" brother is a SENIOR! Wow where has time went? Last night we were talking and I was asking him what he was going to wear his first day back...he looked at me first like what kind of question was that..then he responded with just a t-shirt and shorts. Ugh! Things are so different with boys & girls. I remember my first day of senior year I had to have a new outfit and it had to be just right. I am excited for Blake this year....I hope he has a great senior year made with lots of fun memories!

Mom and I got back late this afternoon from the beach. We went down to Gulf Shores for a couple of days. It was very relaxing and a fun time for Mom and I. We didn't really do much we just slept late, read a lot, laid on the beach, and ate great seafood. I did have a nice surprise while there though, Steven came to visit!

The countdown to Auburn begins.....4days~

The Clampetts

Today we left for Auburn/Beach. We came down to Auburn tonight to drop off some stuff( coffee maker, dishes, and the crate of clothes/shoes) and see how things were around Stonegate. Mom and I felt like Jedd and Ellie Mae from the Beverly Hillbillies. We could not have squeezed anything else in my car. The pictures are taken without my mom's suitcase, or toiletry bag. So once we got that in there it was packed to the brim. Mom drove down and she complained the whole time about not being able to see out :O

Our trip to Auburn was good. Mom drove rather fast and I made the comment to her that you could tell she hadn't got a ticket lately because she sure was driving fast through the different towns. Then she proceeded to make fun of me...for all the times she has to tell me to speed up. Since I got my first and only ticket I drive like a old granny now.

Time for bed...YAY for the beach tomorrow!

Direction determines Destination-Not intentions!

I went to visit with my old youth pastor, Richard, last week. He gave me a series to watch and it has been great so far. The series is called Destinations by Andy Stanley from North Point Community Church. I watched two of the parts last night and he was talking about Solomon. He referred to the verse from Proverbs 3:5-6 " Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight." Wow...this came from the mouth of a man filled with wisdom. Solomon knew in light of all his wisdom that when making decisions he had to Trust in the Lord.

In this series it constantly reminds us that the Direction you choose ultimately determines your Destination not your intentions. - Think about it! Good intentions, lofty goals, and inspiring dreams are noble, but it's your path that actually determines where you end up. I look forward to finishing this series!

Welcome to my blog!
I started blogging a little bit on myspace and liked it so I decided I would make my own place to blog. I hope ya'll enjoy reading about my everyday adventure's and random thoughts.
